1. Online courses started before study permit approval count toward PGWP. Students currently pursuing online education in Canada can finally relax!

2. British Columbia invited 302 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in a draw held on August 18. The minimum score requirements in today’s draw ranged between 76 and 98 for the five EEBC and SI categories that were involved.

3. Manitoba issues 253 invitations to PNP candidates. The EOI score cutoffs for the August 13 draw: Skilled workers in Manitoba: 485; Skilled Workers Overseas: 672.

4. Manitoba PNP invites 213 immigration candidates on August 29. The new draw brings the total number of invitations issued so far this year to 3,299.

5. Ontario PNP invites 703 Express Entry candidates on August 26. Express Entry candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 466 and 475 to be invited in the latest invitation round.

6. OINP held its largest draw of the year. A total of 1,288 invitations went to candidates who may be eligible for the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream. They needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 463 and 477 in order to be invited.

7. Who can come to Canada right now? Canadian citizens & immediate family, permanent residents & immediate family, some people who have been approved for Canadian permanent residence, some temporary foreign workers and some international students.

8. Saskatchewan invites 570 PNP candidates. Invited candidates needed at least 69 points in the EOI points system to get the letter.

9. Express Entry: Canada invites 3,300 CEC candidates. A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 454 was enough to ensure an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

10. Express Entry: Canada issues 600 invitations to apply for permanent residence with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of 771. Invited candidates needed a provincial nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in order to be selected.

11. Express Entry: Canada holds rare federal skilled trades draw. Canada has held just the 7th Federal Skilled Trades Program draw since Express Entry's launch in 2015. Successful FSTP candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 415 to receive an ITA.

12. Canada issued 3,900 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence in a draw held August 5. Candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 476 to be invited in this invitation round.

13. Canada regains 55% of jobs lost to coronavirus. About 1.65 million jobs since April were recouped as of July, according to the Labour Force Survey.

14. Canada welcomed nearly 19,200 new permanent residents in June 2020. This intake was much stronger than the 11,000 newcomers welcomed by Canada in May and the 4,000 who gained PR in April.
