Reasons CCP Virus Lockdowns are Counterproductive or Otherwise Do More Harm Than Good - By Ratstachio on 1st May 2020 12:39:09 AM
Epidemical
- Delaying the curve instead of flattening it
- The only goal is to not exceed the capacity of the healthcare system, not to save as many lives as possible
- Other East Asian countries (not China) have been fine without lockdowns while still practicing social distancing
- Preventing herd immunity
- Sending dorm students back home to live with their at-risk family members, they are also a great population for herd immunity
- Preventing inevitable infections from happening when hospitals have the capacity to treat more people
Economic
- Record high unemployment
- Inflation
- "Essential" stores can be open without causing outbreaks, small businesses should be no different
- Many small businesses and startups will not reopen because owners lost everything
- Forcing small businesses to shut down while allowing large corporations to stay open, eliminating competition
Governmental
- Politicians being given too much power
- Government does not know what is essential
- Most people adhere to guidelines without actual laws, which is ultimately the goal
- Compliance always works better than authoritarianism
- Businesses and hospitals function best when they are not being told what to do
- Draconian measures already failed in China
- Politicians only listening to doctors while completely disregarding all other factors
- Basic rights being curbed
- Bailing out large corporations instead of small businesses
Physical Health
- Postponing medical procedures the government decided are nonessential, threatening patients' health
- Vitamin D deficiencies increase risk of infection
- People afraid to go to medical facilities when they need treatment
- Most doctors will tell their patients not to come in if they do not think it is necessary
Social
- Increasing depression and loneliness, especially among people living alone
- Increase in domestic violence
